A trip to see G & G Witzke....

\
This week, James, and I ventured down to Southern Utah to visit his great grandparents in their new Casa.
We went on a little shopping spree for a few decorating odds and ends. James probably thinks his second home is the Home Depot. He has spent more time there than in his nursery:) We took a little Applebee's break to get refueled before we braved the feisty crafters at Robert's.

We decided to do a little DIY project for a blank wall in her sewing room. This was the inspiration for our artwork.

We applied scrapbook paper (.60 cents) to craft board ($4 each) with a little Mod Podge.
Cost: about $20.00!

Voila, the finished product.
(P.S. Thanks for teaching me to Mod Podge Aunt Cheryl..you have fulfilled a dream of mine;)

James decked out in a teddy bear ensemble my grandparents gave him.
It was so good to see you Grandma and Grandpa Witzke, we love your new pad! Love you lots!
XOXO,
Jessica and James.

Life's a beach

At church Sunday the teacher talked about how a small grain of sand is so insignificant, but combined it can make a beautiful beach...That made me think of how an accumulation of precious moments make up a wonderful lifetime.
Soooo, here are 10 grains for sand from last weekend that I know I will want to click through when I'm a granny...surfing through this blog... in my rocker ...............................

1) John took me to Tuscany for date night. It was yummy from appetizer to dessert. We went there about 4 years ago at this time. So I pretended like it was then...and I got butterflies again:)

How many piles of pics do I have of me feeding my face?! My taste buds are reliving the moment as I type...Mmmmmmmm. Delish!

2) John having every other Friday off. Hallelujah for long weekends.

3) Sleeping in while John and James have father son bonding time over the PlayStation.

4) Spending hours with our giggly baby, b/c every one says this time goes by way. too. fast. So we're listening.... and playing.

5) Eating blueberry waffles with so many blueberries you can't see the waffles.
(John would demur, His breakfast date is Jimmy Dean.)

6) Finally getting on top of my laundry mountain.

7) Watching James do new things daily. The latest and greatest...rolling on his belly.

8) Knowing that James's first spring is just around the corner... and he will finally see we don't actually live in a winter wasteland.

9) Walking in the office and seeing John studying dreadfully boring chemicals for hours on end, all for the the love of the fam.

10) Watching the Hollywood glitz and glam in the Oscars and having my two favorite actresses nominated.

So.. Like sands on the beach...so are the moments of our lives:) Peace!

Glammin up the Kitchen

As expected, my spring fever decorating bug came a knockin' mid February. I fervently obliged with project:revamp kitchen:)
I bought these handy dandy stainless steel stickem tiles for less than a tank of gas! John lovingly gave up his weekend to apply the tiles and frame out our kitchen window.
It totally shined up the place and revitalized the Rachael Ray in me enough for my next DIY, project:learn to bake better cookies:)
The drapes and rug came from World Market. There is so much color packed in that store right now, just a stroll down the aisles will shake your winter time blues. Click here for fabulous coupon ($10 dollars off $30 expires 03/14).

And, while I'm on the subject ....Liberty of London debuts March 14th at Target! Can't wait!!! (Dearest Kimme, So sad you don't have a Target in Canada:( Which is another reason why you NEED to move back to the states ASAP! your loving bff, Jessica:)

I know that practically everyone of my friends has a little DIY project going on. So..Please post pics:)... b/c who doesn't looooove a good makeover story?!

Time Flies
when you have a Son..........

We had a ladies cross country ski day at Soldier Hollow in Midway. Ya that is right...move on over down hill because there is a new sheriff in town! And I'm crossing my heart... this is my new favorite sport and here is why....
  • Pretty much anyone can do it
  • It's a fabulous triceps, butt, and leg workout-tell me another exercise that does all those things and is actually FUN
  • It's a chance to get out of the mucky inversion. Note: sunshine in pics
  • You can rent a sled to pull your kiddos
  • There is NO WAY, you get cold, actually you should be worried about getting too HOT
  • You go at a slow enough pace to chat it up with your peeps
  • When you go down hill you put your skis in these grooves and it totally feels like a roller coaster. For reals it is an adrenaline rush
Soooo... if anyone is down for going, let me know, because I am totally up for going again... and again...and probably, again. But we are running out of time. Spring is on it's way and I will be welcoming it with bells on!

Aunt Cathy is demonstrating the roller coaster grooves your skis go into. SO.MUCH.FUN.

Just sled doggin it with James in his chariot.

Have I mentioned every time I get together with these gals I laugh for days. (john just said it's weird i call girls gals:)... Anyway, we had lunch at the lodge and everyone pulled out these gourmet lunches with canteens filled with homemade soups, salads, etc. Then my mom and me pulled out the exact same kind of grocery sack with a peanut butter sandwich, orange, and bag of walnuts. Yup, me and my mom relate. Anyway, my mouth was watering over the others lunches (and it made me think of John's not- so- great lunches I send with him to work..note, work on that). Luckily, my Aunt Cheryl came to my rescue. She whipped out a whole homemade pie. Another reason skiing with these girls totally rocks.my.socks.

So skier chic. My mom and aunts are quite the cross country experts. Oh, and one more thing; my nephew goes to a charter school at Solider Hollow and he gets to ski everyday at recess. Lucky kid.

Need a little motherhood motivation?

If you have had a day like mine.. (e.g. stuck in the casa with crying baby, hubby at school every night, horrible hair) you will appreciate this post.
My mom inspires me to expand my horizons, not care what others think , and laugh lots along the way.
And if you want one of her books for free, let me know. I will find away to get you one. She has a great writing style that helps you put things in perspective. So add her to your blog list. I promise you will be a better momma for it.

My Long LOST Love is Back!

(invite I sent to John at work)
Due to the Vikings not making it to the super bowl, the season premier of LOST was the biggest event at our house this week.

Welcome to the island

Romantic dinner for two... I guess three, counting James.

"The smoke monster is going to take my baby!"

Because I watched the first five seasons while James was in my belly, I think he was preconditioned to be a fan of the sci-fi soap.

Dinner was cluckity-cluck-cluck good. The menu featured Hurley's favorite, Mr Cluck's Fried Chicken.

We made this ice-cream island disappear faster than you could say 4, 8, 15, 16, 23, 42.
The Lost Diary is posted. He sums up my thoughts exactly.
I am liking the alternate reality thing. It is apparent all my questions are never going to be answered so I might as well start making up my own explanations in my head.
I don't really know why I am posting this b/c like 2 of my friends actually watch the show, and every one else is probably thinking I've turned into some sci-fi fanatic. I wish I could blame it on John, but I am way more into it than him. But, If you ever have surgery or something and have LOADS of couch time.. check out the DVDs. Time will fly and I bet it would be even more entertaining on pain meds.
