Please Describe Your Idea of a Perfect Date...

Remember when this question was posed to Miss Rhode Island in the Movie Miss Congeniality:

Stan Fields: Miss Rhode Island, please describe your idea of a perfect date.
Cheryl "Rhode Island": That's a tough one. I'd have to say April 25th. Because it's not too hot, not too cold, all you need is a light jacket.   (You can watch it here)

Well, I agree April 25th (or 27th rather)  really is the perfect date...as well as a great time of year to go on  an actual date with your man...
We cashed in the opera tickets I won at the Christmas auction Friday.  We opted for a romantic dinner at home this time.
James enjoyed the babysitter and a break from his parents.
And his mama loved a night out in the big city.

The Opera was Mary Stuart.   In a nutshell it was a true story about a royal cat fight between two British queens.
All and all I would say Mary Stuart was just meh (we find the opera soothes us to sleep instead of keeping us on the edge of our seats;)...But the weather wasn't too hot or too cold and I had a pretty hot date... And that made it just about perfect:)

Mums...

My week with my mom can pretty much be summed up with gardens… Butterfly gardens, planting gardens, walking through gardens, eating in gardens, playing in gardens, and taking pictures of gardens.  It was a beautiful week I won't soon forget.  Mom, thanks for giving me your love of all things flora.  If moms were flowers, I’d pick you:)!  XOXO, Jess

Women's Spring Scholarship Auction...

Last time I posted about The Women's Club, our home's former owner happened to read it and gave me some good advice.  She said she had been in my shoes before then indicated that there are a lot of great charitable women in the club who are definitely worth getting to know.  She made some fabulous friends and encouraged me to stick to it.  So when I was invited to the spring brunch, I decided to pull myself up by my bootstraps, dust off my blow dryer, and buy myself a ticket.
The country club was brimming with bright colors and beautiful flowers.  This sistah has never seen so much sweet iced tea.
The view from the balcony was breathtaking.  I really need to start golfing so I can spend more time in that lush green grass.
The Principal of the elementary school that James will attend gave a great little speech.  It made me excited that we live in such a close knit community where the Principal knows the parents.
My friend from church who also lives in my neighborhood came along with me for moral support.  It is much easier to face a scary situation in twos!
This chocolate cake is reason enough for me to always attend the Women's Club socials.
Girl time, good food, and a reason to get dressed up is always a good thing.  I am glad I gave it another try.  On another happy note, my mamma will be here in the morning.  Can't wait.
