Stop Growing!!!

Good thing I have another bun in the oven, because over night my beach baby has turned into a big kid.  John had his mom fix the trim we gave James.  She did a good job, but if it is this hard to watch him get a haircut, how am I going to let him go to kindergarten in another couple years, let alone college!  Does having more kids make milestones any easier? This mama is having growing pains tonight.  At least it helps to see him so happy...along with see his eyes again;)

Wet n' Wild Weekend

James is always on cloud nine in Oklahoma.  There are more toys, treats, and cousins than a kid could ask for.  It makes me wish I was five again.  But it's also fun to sit on the sidelines and witness childhood memories in the making.  Thanks for having such a kiddie paradise, and allowing James to be the king of the castle this week.  We love you Grandma and Grandpa Gregory.

Enjoying the Fruits of My Labor...

One of my favorite quotes is "necessity is the mother of invention."   I like to mix it up and say, "invention is a necessity of motherhood."  I am using the creative side of my brain as much as when I worked as a designer.  Being a stay-at-home mom requires daily ingenuity to keep James (and me) entertained.  Right now I am enjoying the challenge of finding a little art and adventure in the everyday…
We went blackberry picking today for playgroup.
You can tell by their faces that harvesting is hard work when you have little hands:)

Most of the time our adventures are more low-key and imaginary.

Two other friends and I are trading off doing our own preschool.  James's favorite part is wearing his daddy's backpack.
Mary Poppins was on to something.  Chalk really is a magical medium with munchkins.

Sharing the dewberries with daddy after work.
I am feeling lucky to have my dream job thanks to John sitting behind a desk all day.   I might have to make him a pie in appreciation.  Recipes anyone???  Have a berry good week (sorry, couldn't resist:)   Love, Jess

Pool Date...

James and I have been getting along famously with our new friends, Thirza and Tyler.  Thirza is a laid back artist mama and Tyler is James’s older clone, with a cute Texas accent (I am hoping will rub off on James:).   I am so glad to have another friend who likes to go with the flow on Friday afternoon...  And also wears a swim cap to protect her newly highlighted hair.  A simple sign our friendship is going to be strong ;)

I finally found an outdoor eatery nearby that reminds me of Paris.  I can put another x on my Texas checklist.

James and Tyler probably would have played on this "dinosaur" tree stump till dark if we let them.  Bringing up boys is a beautiful thing:)  Happy weekend y'all:)

We Are Having A...

If you have a super trained ultrasound eye you might be able to tell.  Otherwise stay tuned until September;)

James came along with me for my big ultrasound.  In between him eating his Easter candy bribe, and trying to pull on some machine cords, he briefly saw the baby’s silhouette flash across the screen.  For a second he stopped, smiled, pointed and sweetly said, bee bee.  I think he finally believes his mama isn't bananas and maybe could have a baby in her belly after all (sometimes I wonder too:).  After the appointment he proudly clasped the pictures as I pushed his stroller to the car.  It is fun to be growing our little family, and have a little friend to join in on the fun.  XOXO, Jess

Blame it on the Rain

We tried to celebrate my friend, Thirza's, birthday with a girls night at the ballet Friday.  But the ballet Swan Lake turned into a literal lake when a flash flood waltzed through the amphitheater.  Word to the wise...They are serious when the weather channel issues severe storm warnings in the south.  I have never seen it pour so!  We were in quite the predicament and I seriously started to feel labor pains from how fast we had to run through the rain.  Though we are all still in the process of drying out, we can say it was a birthday party we won't soon forget.
I am feeling very blessed that my camera is still functioning since I was wringing the water out from my camera strap.

Sunday Shout Out

To all the mamas who have been locked out in their pajamas...or have had their patience tried in other such ways.
We love you Grandma Gregory and Nana.   We hope you have a relaxing (ha ha, we could dream, right?:)...a great day.
