Today the kids and I went on a field trip for Veterans Day to the Houston National Cemetery. It was just a short drive from our house. We arrived before the rain and were the only ones there. It was so peaceful and gave me a chance to meditate on the sacrifice of the brave soldiers. Seeing all of the flags on the graves made me choke up. I feel empathy for the families left behind, the loss of life, and the mental and physical anguish of the injured. I am so grateful for those who fight for my freedom and hope to teach my children how blessed we are because of these men and women.
