April Showers Bring May Flowers...

Last week I grounded myself to the house determined to make some potty training progress.  It was a good time for it because John was in Romania and the weather was rainy.  Thankfully when I was about to go insane the sun would come out, we could pull out the training pants, and attend a couple parties...
We spent Easter at a friend of a friend's who owns a small golf course.  They were so generous and allowed us to ride golf carts around the course all evening.  James was on cloud nine the entire time.

My downtown friend  Erin throws pinterest worthy parties...With the most delicious food.  The theme was Candy Land.

I am so thankful we met Erin and Emilia at story hour almost two years ago!

James all tuckered out from the festivities.  As you can see, the kids had a little fun with magic markers  while the mamas socialized.
So far things have been drier at our house...if you know what I mean:)    Happy Spring friends and family!

Little Biddy Do Wah Diddy...

My leaning mirror is the perfect size to make a bridge across the bathtub so Rissy can see herself splash.  I wish I could jazzercise in the Jacuzzi...And I wish I could sport thunder-thighs and still look as cute.
Aren't chubby bathing babies the best:)  XOXO, Jess

The Gregory Clan...

Grandma Gregory visited a few weeks back.  And she came with cousins, clothes for the kiddos, treats, and a beautiful heirloom piece of furniture for Rissy (more on that later).
She gave me a nice break while she was here by cooking up a storm, entertaining James, restocking our fridge, and babysitting while I ran an errand or two.  James is always on cloud nine around Carla and his cousins and we can't wait until we see everyone again this summer.  XOXO, Jess

Easter

Tonight we colored Easter eggs.  We are about a week late, but it was worth the wait:)

Dinner and a Drive-in...

This week a friend passed away from cancer leaving his young family behind.  He only found out six months ago and now he is gone.  It all happened so quick.  His loss and the fact that John has been traveling so much has helped me appreciate my family time more.  How bad my friend wanted to stay with his wife and kids towards the end.  It breaks my heart.
In honor of those who don't have their health to live each day, I want to be better about not complaining about the small stuff.  I just want to be happy and grateful for my little lot in life.  That is kind of deep for and dinner and drive-in post, but these were just some of my thoughts that set the tone for a sweet Friday night.
Dinner was about thirty minutes from our house out in the country. The menu was full of heart attack inducing hamburgers, like a bacon burger between two donuts....As I type this I see that if we want to have more time with family we probably shouldn't make this place a habit:)
This restaurant gives kid friendly a whole new meaning.  There was a tire swing by our table.
I am infatuated with this sweet smiling girl.
We saw a double feature.  The Croods  and Oz.  It was James and John's first time at a drive-in--they gave it two thumbs up.  James even stayed wide awake through both movies.

Our little angel baby is six months old this week.  Have I mentioned I love this little lady.  XOXO, Jess.

Lush Crush...

We discovered this place on a Saturday drive in the ritzy River Oaks neighborhood.  It is called the Rienzi.  It was a residential estate donated to be a museum.  We were guessing the art filled house wasn't the most kid friendly place so we opted to spend the afternoon in the free gardens... sipping ice-cold lemonade in the shade.  It felt like I had died and gone to heaven!  I really think this is the prettiest place I've ever been!

I am so thankful for the philanthropists who donated this place for my family and others to enjoy.
XOXO, Jess
