Andy's New Crib

My mom decided to make two connecting rooms in their house "Andy's apartment." So last weekend Andy and I went shopping for new bachelor pad decor. He now has his own living room, dining space, private bathroom, and bedroom. If you want to visit, just ring his door bell. He will grab you a Propel from his fridge and whip you up dinner in his new microwave.

Sorry ladies, he has a girlfriend.

My two bachelor bros hanging out on Andy's new couch. Zac is the next Ty Pennington. He has an eye for a design and is always there to help out on all my decorating projects.

O Canada! O Canada!

John spent a week and a half in Tulsa for work and to visit fam, so to speed up time (and to keep me from redecorating) he bought me a plane ticket to visit Kimme. It was a week filled with face masks, chick flicks, girl talk, shopping, and lots and lots of laughter.
Check out Kimme's room above, she is a design rock star!

Here is the view from Kimme's parent's porch. I could sit out there all day!

Kimme with her wonderful hubby, Chris.
I am soon to be an "aunty!" They are expecting their first baby (a boy) in August.

Apparently, you can still eat Sushi when you are expecting. Just not the hard core stuff. Fantastic news for a someday prego sushi lover!

Vancouver is like Utah on steroids. They have the ocean, Whistler, and a huge metropolis city with lots of shopping. You could surf, ski, and visit Sephora all in the same day.

Kimme's sis and my friend, Chelsea, is such an amazing woman! She is single and has 4 kids under 4! Chelsea, you are great "mum." You have the sweetest kids ever and I wish you were closer so I could baby-sit.

A little bit of this, a little bit of that:

Hello! Sorry I haven't posted in forever! It seriously took me a plane ride, two different buses, and a ferry to make me slow down enough to write a post. I am on Vancouver Island visiting my BFF (with no phone service:) so I will take this opportunity to let you know a few of the things John and I have been up to on our Saturdays.

John's parent came to town to visit from Oklahoma. When they come, John's mom loves to fix him all his favorite foods. It was heaven not having to cook all week. Above are pictures from the Easter tabernacle performance at temple square.

John won tickets at work to the Utah Symphony, Video Games Live performance. I wore my boots, but jeez, no one told me to bring my sword! P.S. Does anyone have an old school nintendo? I have been craving mario brothers ever since.

This group takes away your blues! Last week John and I went to Vegas to see the Blue Man Group. This show is MUST SEE! I start laughing whenever I think about all the paper at the end (you'll just have to go to find out:) I've decided John can't ever go to the eye doc. He always insists on sitting on the front row because that is the only way he can see. The theater is a whole new experience without binoculars!

This is my kind of camping! John ordered a new tent online and was too excited to wait until the winter thaw, so we camped out in the living room. My vote is we keep it an "indoor" tent.

Black Diamonds are a Girls Best Friend

I've thought for years that Snowbird mixes some kind of drug into their snow because I just can't get enough of that place. After recently coming across an article about substance abuse, I am convinced of my theory. It said, "Drugs (or skiing) over stimulates the pleasure center of the brain, flooding it with a neurotransmitter which produces euphoria. That heightened sense of pleasure can be so compelling that the brain wants that feeling back, again and again."
Some signs of dependence can include:
-Missing work or school due to the drug use.
-Scheduling your day around using drugs.
-Spending an excessive amount of money on the drug.

It is official, I am addicted to skiing and on cloud 9 because John is also starting have a craving for carving too.

Accessorize Accessorize Accessorize

Most days this winter I've been clad in a scarf, hat, and baggy sweater. It has been great; it saves me some serious time in the morning, I'm finally warm at work, and I deep condition my hair under my hat. I must admit it has been getting a little out of hand lately and when John said I am starting to look like a "cat lady" I decided it is high time to start living one of my core values, accessorizing! According to my style bible, (Nieman Marcus) femininity is all the rage this spring. Here are some of my favorite finds. Now, all I need is Target to start carrying the knock offs:)

I love my nephew's!!!!

Here are a few pics of us snowshoeing with the Sullie's. I couldn't stop laughing watching Isaac waddle around with his big snowshoe feet and little legs. He face planted it about every third step but he would always get up with a smile. Drew carried this snowball all over the mountain and then cried when he couldn't bring it home with him.
Heather, you are amazing for hiking in the snow one month before labor! P.S. When can I baby sit again? Sacrament meeting goes by in a jiffy with kids.

Soooo much snow!

Living on the side of the mountain gives us beautiful views of the valley and A LOT of wind and snow. Even when it doesn't storm snow drifts bury our drive every morning. I am just a picture poser here. John is the one that gets up every morning before work at 5:30 am to clear our drive for work. Ah, so responsible.
Let me tell you though, there are some serious advantages to living on the hill. Church was canceled today just in time for the pre game super bowl show. I think John is starting to like Utah more everyday:)

A Splash of Color for my Winter Time Blues

A few weeks ago I flew to Colorado for work to check out the new Noah's sites and meet with a city planner. I was able to stay overnight to see the Denver Design Center. I saw this French country show room and I felt like Dorthy leaving the world of black and white and entering OZ. January has been so cloudy and cold I really needed a serious dose of color. It made me think, I bet God made oranges because he knew we not only needed the Vitamin C for our immune systems but we would need the bright orange color for our souls on a gray winter's day.

Sun Valley Serenade

I used to relish banana splits until I figured out what I really loved were the bananas. Last week John had an engineering conference in Sun Valley and I discovered something else... I thought I loved boys from Idaho, but it turns out what I really loved was the state. It was gorgeous and the ski hills were divine! The sky was so blue and the Sun Valley Hotel was amazing. It was filled with a ton of old Hollywood history.
A few highlights were a romantic sleigh ride to a cabin for dinner and swimming at night in their outdoor pool. I am definitely going back there someday!

Opposites Attract

"He watches sports
She likes to ski
She stays up late
He hits the hay
His type is red
Her type is blue
But she loves him
And he loves her"

This is how we have spent a lot of our winter so far. John is one devoted football fan and he loves all the action in HD!
I am trying to make up for a lost ski season since last year I was a little tied up with Noah's. If anyone is looking for a ski buddy, I am available!

This is my favorite view on earth! I took this on New Years day on the top of Snowbird Ski Resort. Whenever I want to go ski on Sunday instead of go to church I think about this view. It makes me put on my church clothes and go and worship our Savior for the beautiful mountains and my health to be able to ski them.

My First Blog

Hello fam and friends. Let me tell you, it has been a long hard road getting here. First of all, I've been blogging constantly in my head ever since Heather started her blog last summer. It has kind of felt like when I was in elementary school and I would pretend I was Bob Ross and a T.V. crew was filming my life (I think I chose him because of our similar Afros). Every time I would perform a task such as the dishes or coloring a picture, in my mind I would explain every step as if I had an audience. The last few months I've been narrating my thoughts as If I were writing a blog. It started to became a little annoying so I finally decided to have Heather set me up on E blogger last October. However, I realized we didn't have a working camera and I am not eloquent enough for an all word blog (I guess that is why I was a visual comm major :) so for several months my blog sat empty.
Then, for Christmas John accessorized me with everything I would need to document our lives together. There was just one last road block of a couple of frustrating nights trying to figure out why my pictures were all posting upside down. But, thanks to my smart hot hubby I am now ready for my first blog ever.
If we had sent a Christmas card, which I didn't (hopefully next year), and I let John pick the picture, which I probably wouldn't (to avoid looking like an OU apparel catalog), this might have been it.
Since we were too excited to wait at the Gregory house, we opened our Christmas presents on Christmas Eve. That gave us the morning after going to my families to head down to Noah's to play racquetball, Nintendo Wii and ice-skate. We left before the crowds came to go sledding and ended it with my family over for dinner and a movie. It was an eventful and memorable Christmas!
